Christmas Tales.

Check out the titles of some of the Christmas Stories we read.

During the last week of school we had listened to lots of different stories about Christmas. We made peg doll angels and imagined what Santa does when it isn't Christmas. Does he relax by the fire, holiday at the beach or spend the whole year preparing for the next busy Christmas? What do you think?
We spent the last morning including Pepi the baby pukeko [our class mascot] in our play. We have all taken Pepi to our homes several times for sleepovers this year and have lots of fabulous stories and photos as a record of these experiences.
Pepi is enjoying the gingerbread castle the students built for him.
Meet Prisha, Ahinui, R.J. and Ash who designed and built the magnificent gingerbread castle. Great team work guys!! Pepi loves your work!!

Roimata used paper shapes to make a picture of Pepi.
Thanks Roimata! We will add your Pepi art to the Pepi booklet.

WISHING YOU ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Paparore School Pepeha Art

Here are examples of Te Kakano students' pepeha art. We used metallic oil pastels to create a maunga, moana, awa and marae incorporating some Maori patterns. We also learned actions that repesent each feature of the pepeha. This helped us to learn the Maori words for mountain, ocean and river.

Swim Safe with Ronda

We are learning to be safe in and around water. Always wear the right sized life-jacket. If it is too big it will slip off you.

We learned to keep ourselves afloat by lying on our backs and kicking.

If we fall into the water we should make a huddle and hold onto our friends.

Help each other out. Arms interlocked under each others shoulders.

Swimming with a life jacket on.
Thanks Ronda for teaching us skills to keep ourselves safe in the water.

Level 3 Lock Down - Week 3

 Diwali

Viva and her family are celebrating Diwali at home during Lockdown. Diwali is the  festival of lights and it is celebrated for five days.

The beautiful designs are called 'Rangoli' and they are put at the entrance to the house during the festival. Rangoli are traditional Indian decorations made with ground rice. Viva and Preet are learing to draw Rangoli patterns during Diwali. They also have fireworks every night during the celebrations. Thank you so much for sharing these fabulous photos!!
