Pet Day 2022

The students, teachers, parents and other whanau members helped to make our first ever PET and AGRICULTURAL DAY one to remember.

Making patterns with petals.

Decorative cookies made at home. Don't they look delicious?
And . . . so many very impressive small world creations.
Ka pai to mahi, tamariki!

Te Kakano's 'charming chickens'! What a hard time the judges had to choose the best from the different exhibits.

Te Kakano's Poem Presentations

During the last two weeks each student has been learning a poem of choice and practising presenting it to an audience. The final day of judging was today. Mrs Dane and Whaea Trina were very proud of every student's effort. Congratulations to all! We loved listening to your poem presentations!

Caterpillar Magic

All term we have been watching butterfly eggs hatch into teeny, tiny caterpillars and then observed how the caterpillars never stopped eating the swan plant leaves. They grew and grew and grew!! When a caterpillars was long and plump it stopped eating so much, attached itself to a branch or somewhere else it felt safe. We had three caterpillars climb all the way up to the ceiling. We were all on chrysalis duty waiting and watching for butterflies to emerge.

This caterpillar climbed all the way up to the heat pump duct. It took one whole day and a night to get there.

When the monarch first emerges its wings are crumpled and small.
The butterfly then takes time to pump its beautiful wings up and flaps them slowly to make them strong enough to fly away.
