ANZAC Biscuits

 Why do people in New Zealand make ANZAC biscuits?

Baking ANZAC biscuits is a tradition in New Zealand and Australia. During the war women baked biscuits from ingredients that didn't 'spoil' easily and kept well on long ocean voyages. The biscuits were sent to the soldiers. We still make ANZAC biscuits to remember the very brave men and women who went to war.

In Te Kakano we made biscuits and wrote about this the next day.

Term 4 Week 3 - 5

 Measurement
Te Kakano are learning about measurement. It is very much about understanding the language of measurement and comparison. The students measured a variety of objects using non-standard measuring tools such as unifix cubes, blocks, string, hands and feet. It has been a lot of fun as the following photos demonstrate.
