Supporting our learning with the iPads

Today Richard from 'Using Technology Better' taught us to use the camera on our iPads and also to the editing pen to write on photos. We were all very good at listening and following instructions.

Weeks 6 and 7

For the last month we have been learning about Te Tiriti of Waitangi which is an important part of the history of Aotearoa up to the present day. We learned that the treaty was an agreement between the first people to live in New Zealand [the Maori] and the British who arrived from England. We discussed what a classroom treaty could have on it and made our own. Every one signed their name on the treaty as a promise to help make our class a happy learning space where everyone felt they belonged.

Learning to ask and answer a question
This week our shared book was called, 'Does a Duck eat Honey?'
We learned that we ask a question to find out something. A written question has a question mark at the end. We used picture cards in a game to help ask and answer questions. We had lots of fun!

After the game we wrote a question in our writing books.

Phonics and Handwriting

In Te Kakano Class the students all put a lot of effort into learning the sounds letters make. This week we were learning about the letter Dd and the sound it makes in words. The Letterland character Dippy Duck helped us to remember this sound. We also practised writing this letter on our mini whiteboards and in our handwriting books.

On Fun Fridays we always find the rhyming words in our weekly poem and then illustrate the poem. This week our poem was called 'Friends'.
