Life Cycle of a Butterfly
We each created an art work to show the life cycle of a butterfly. The next day we used our art to explain to a partner how the life cycle works. We used words like life cycle, leaf, eggs, larva, larvae, pupa, chrysalis and adult.
The Butterfly song
First comes a butterfly and lays an egg,
Out comes a caterpillar with many legs,

We talked about what happens at the chrysalis stage. Caius brought along his transformer toy to show us what 'transforming' means. It means 'change' or 'turn' like the word 'morph.' Metamorphosis is when the caterpillar turns into a butterfly. We think it is magical!
