[sung to the tune ‘Head, shoulders, knees and toes’]

Head, thorax, abdomen [abdomen]

Head, thorax, abdomen [abdomen]

Antennae, eyes and six legs,

Head, Thorax, abdomen [abdomen].

We worked in teams and used our learning to identify insects by sorting living things.

We also used our learning about insect life cycles by ordering pictures and talking about the stages: egg, larva, pupa, adult.

Paparore School Weetbix Tryathalon

We all participated in our school Tryathlon. The sun was shining and lots of parents and other whanau members came along to watch and help.

What did we do?

  1. Jump Jam - the whole school joined in.
  2. Rode our bikes or walked twice around the field.
  3. Ran around the field behind Te Kauru.
We also had break times to play in the playground while each class completed their race.

When the races had finished and everyone had received a medal, we enjoyed a really delicious hangi prepared and cooked by some of our whanau!

Living Things - Insects

This term we have learned many things about insects. We know that insects are living things, that they have unique body parts and they have a life cycle with different stages. We will continue our learning in term 3, in preparation for making a butterfly garden at school.

After learning about living and non-living things we worked together to sort out facts . . . Living things: Can, Are, Need.

2D SHAPE ART

This term we have been learning about 2D [flat shapes] and 3D [fat] shapes. We noticed many shapes all around us in our environment. We used shapes to create these pictures after planning, choosing paper shapes and arranging them. we love our art work.
