Term 2, Week 1

A wonderful start to the Term!

This week six little seeds [Emma, Keifer, Chase, Mason, Xavier and Nooroa] graduated from Te Kakano and moved into Te Pihi. We wish our friends all the best. Seven new students also joined Te Kakano. We are very happy to have Ava, Eden, Dwayne, AJ, Jo-Jo, Tauhe and Riley join our class whanau. We began the Term with a hiss and a roar.

We are off to great places! We're off and away!

This week we also learned a little bit about ANZAC Day. We read in a story how the soldiers had to eat BULLY BEEF and CABIN BREAD everyday so we tried it. Nobody liked the smell as we passed the open tin around.

However nearly all of us took up the taste challenge . . . Bully Beef on water crackers, and most agreed it wasn't too bad at all.

Thumbs up for cabin bread and bully beef!

Believe it or not a number of hungry soldiers came back for more and some ate three pieces!
Nobody liked the thought of having to eat Bully Beef everyday and we know it was a miserable life for the very brave soldiers who lived in the trenches. We are very happy there is no war in New Zealand.
