Week 6, Term 3 2020

Home Learning Rewards

All the students at our school who complete their home learning as required get rewarded on two afternoons a term by being able to choose from a range of fun activities. Te Kakano classroom was available for students to be creative through play. They enjoyed the 'Kakano Cafe', construction and building, role play, dressing up, play dough and the rocket. What a fabulous afternoon!

Term 3 Week 4 2020

 Galaxies galore!

Today we made galaxy jars to help us remember our learning about space. At the end of the day these are the facts that the students remembered:
  1. A galaxy is a group of millions of stars.
  2. Our solar system is part of a galaxy.
  3. Our galaxy is called 'The Milky Way.'
  4. Our galaxy looks like a spiral.
  5. There are a billion other galaxies.
  6. The universe is bigger than gigantic!!

We made the galaxy jars with water coloured with paint, silver glitter, sequins and stars, and cotton balls. We loved them so much Mrs Dane said we could take them home to help us explain to our families what we have learned about galaxies . . . especially our galaxy, The Milky Way.

Te Kakano Class - The seeds

Yea!! Today was the first day this term that all the students in te Kakano came to school. Here we are!

Out of this World

This term we are learning new things about our solar system. Te Kakano students have been really interested in finding out about the planets, stars, moons and how our solar system works.
In our group rotations during maths some of the students made rocket ships. Check out these original designs!

Austen and Alaris brought their two week old lamb to school for a visit. Lammie was very sweet and we loved patting her soft fleece. We all had a turn feeding her water from a baby's bottle and watched Alaris feed her some oats. Lammie followed Austen when he ran across the field.

Thank you Toni, Austen and Alaris for bringing Lammie to school.
