Pink Day!

!Learning through play

Great designing and team work!

Thinking and creating!

We are speaking up and standing together against bullying!

Play dough creativity! Symbols from the school pou pou.

Aali has created a maunga - "Ko Puwheke te maunga."Puwheke is the maunga on our pou about the east coast.

Mila created a kuaka. We are learning about the godwit and it's migration to Alaska each year to breed. The sea birds then fly all the way back to our east coast bays to rest and grow plump, ready to fly back to Alaska again in autumn.

Brax created chief Tohe's club. Tohe is on our pou.

Look at what Patrick created. He has made a fish. Ika are plentiful on Ninety Mile Beach.

Alex

Alex and Tairua have created a club foot. Tohe's youngest son was born with a club foot. He was killed in battle and Tohe was very very sad. On our eastern pou Tohe has a club [mere]. On the club is a small carving of his son.

Sophie created ra [the sun], which rises in the east and sets in the west.

We are enjoying learning about the meanings of the different carvings on our Paparore school pou pou.
