We read lots of picture books and watched some videos about the war. We learned it was very hard for the soldiers being far away from their homes and their families. Food was rationed which meant that they only got a certain amount of food every day and sometimes they were very hungry. Well, today we tried 'soldier food'. We had bully beef on some crackers. When the tin was opened with a special little key on the tin, we thought it smelt and looked like cat food . . .YUCK! But, we pretended we were very hungry, brave soldiers and we all had a taste. Only one student didn't like the meal and everyone else had seconds.
